Please
pick your words carefully
as you go about your day
For you are planting seeds that grow
in everything you say
Words can be as soft and gentle
as the petals on a rose
Others are like a piece of dry worthless ground
where nothing grows
Some words are colorful and vivid
as a beautiful mixed bouquet
Words of hate can hurt like a handful of prickly burrs
you try but can't throw away
Words can be as sweet as lilacs,
and they make your spirits soar
While others are hard
with thorns too sharp to ignore
Yes, many words can be like flowers
in their beauty and allure
Or as useless and unwanted as weeds to be sure
So won't you please keep this in mind?
The world will become quite an enchanting place
If we all pick words that are the flowering kind
